40 days from today, I will officially be a kindergarten teacher. As a Teaching Fellow 2009-2010 school year, I will be the second teacher in a classrom of 16.
My friend Jason gave me the idea to write this blog. As a first year 8th grade US History teacher, he is starting a similar blog, so I thought it would be a great way for me to write about my experiences, and let friends and family stay updated about the year.
The great thing about my first year being in a fellowship position is that I will get the "first year teacher" business out of the way without the stress of learning to manage a classroom on my own and create lesson plans. While I know I will be doing both, having an experienced support system within the classroom will allow me to take chances and see which methods work best for me.
Although the kids don't arrive until Aug. 25, I'll be at school in training starting the 10th. I'll try to update this as my adventures in kindergarten begin!
